Services
Integrated ERP solution for the logistic services industry.
Logistic Services
Logistics is one of the fastest-growing industries across the globe that serves as the backbone of the supply chain and eCommerce. With the rapid globalization and expansion of eCommerce pathways, it has become one of the major contributors to the world economy. In addition to eCommerce and supply chain, many other industries including retail, manufacturing, and F&B majorly rely on logistics. As a result, logistics operations have become increasingly complex and more convoluted over the years.
ERP system for Logistic services is an automated system that combines various applications to streamline information flow within the logistics industry. The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport UK (2019) defined 7 R's for the logistics and transport industry, which are:
Right
Getting the Right product
in the Right Quantity
Right
in the Right condition
in the Right place
Right
at the Right Time
to the Right customer
Right
at the Right price
To fulfill the 7 R's, a robust ERP system is needed and Odoo fulfills many of those "7 Right".

Logistics workflow in Odoo
In Odoo Processes Delivery Orders in three Steps
-
Pick + Pack + Ship
When an order goes to the shipping department for final delivery, Odoo is set up by default to utilize a one-step operation: once all goods are available, they are able to be shipped in a single delivery order. However, that process may not reflect reality and your company could require more steps before shipping.
With the delivery in 3 steps (Pick + Pack + Ship), the items will be picked to be transferred to a packing area. Then, they will be moved to an output location before being effectively shipped to the customers.
Multi-Step Routes
The first step is to allow using multi-step routes. It provides a mechanism to chain different actions together, from the picking step to the shipping step.
Create a Sales Order
In the Sales application, when a quotation with some storable products is created to deliver, on quotation confirmation, three pickings will be created and automatically linked to your sale order.
Picking, Packing & Delivery Process
The picking operation is the first one to be processed and has a Ready status while the other ones are Waiting Another Operation. The Packing operation will become Ready as soon as the picking one is marked as done.
Warehouse for Delivery in 3 Steps
Once Multi-Step Routes are activated, the delivery in 3 steps options can be selected in the configured Warehouse, Pack goods, send goods in output and then deliver for Outgoing Shipments.
Three Different Pickings
The first one with a reference PICK to designate the picking process.
The second one with the reference PACK that is the packing process.
The last one with a reference OUT to designate the shipping process.
The picking operation can also be accessed through the inventory dashboard.
In case the product is in stock, then it automatically gets reserved and it can simply validate the picking document.
Once the picking has been validated, the packing order is ready to be processed. As the documents are chained, the products which have been previously picked are automatically reserved on the packing order which can be directly validated.
Once the packing has been validated, the delivery order is ready to be processed. Here again, it is directly ready to be validated in order to transfer the products to the customer location.
Third Party Logistics (3PL)
Synconics Technologies has developed a 3PL application to fulfill the functionality of third party logistics. Third-party logistics (abbreviated as 3PL or TPL) in logistics and supply chain management is an organization's use of third-party businesses to outsource elements of its distribution, warehousing, and fulfillment services.
Third-party logistics providers typically specialize in integrated operations of warehousing and transportation services that can be scaled and customized to customers' needs, based on market conditions, to meet the demands and delivery service requirements for their products. Services often extend beyond logistics to include value-added services related to the production or procurement of goods, such as services that integrate parts of the supply chain.
A provider of such integrated services is referenced as a third-party supply chain management provider (3PSCM) or as a supply chain management service provider (SCMSP). 3PL targets particular functions within supply management, such as warehousing, transportation or raw material provision.
